FDP on ”DATA STRUCTURES WITH C AND PYTHON”
five dayFaculty development program on ”DATA STRUCTURES WITH C AND PYTHON” was conducted by the Department of Computer science and engineering , KSSEMfrom 12th to 16th July 2016.
An updated syllabus is been introduced by the Visveswaraya Technological University to encourage the students to learn new technologies and have good basic knowledge
oncomputer basics. With respect to the trend set by VTU, the Faculties from various institutions and in housefaculties were trained to promote continuous learning.
On the first day i.e., 12th July 2016, Dr.B.K.Raghavendra, professor and head department of computer science took over the FDP and explained about the use of WEKA and
JTHONin analysingand preparing data mining applications. The afternoon session had hands onexposure to the tool WEKA and it was very much interactive. Secondday 13th July, Mr.Vadiraj and Mr.Adithya Koundinya, Assistant professors from Jyothy Institute of technology Explained about the basic concepts of data structures with c .Radix sort and File structures being the center of attraction, the class extended the basic concepts of data structures applications. Use of hashing technique to avoid collisionand programming the same was handled in the afternoon session. Thirdday 14th July, ProfeesorA.M.Padmareddy, Principal ,SVIT, who is also a well knownperson in the field of data structures, made the addition of polynomial and its coding very easy. The session had explanationabout Linked Lists ,Dynamic memory allocation, Use of structures in programming. He also expressed how teachershould be dedicated and passionate inhis work. Fourthday 15th July, Dr.Mohan M.S, professor and head department of Information science handled the class and explained “STACKS” &”QUEUES”. The importance ifdata structures with its detailed explanation wastaught andafternoon session had hands onexposure to the applications of stacks and queues.
The Last day 16th July,
In housefaculty members Mr.Govindaraju G.N and Vikram H ,Assistant professors ,Departmentof Computer science took over the handsclasses to explain PYTHON programming language. They made learning really interesting. on
The program was ended up with valedictory session and participant’s positive feedback.
In – Housefaculty development programme(8th July 2015)
In – Housefaculty development programme was conducted in the department on the Electronics circuits and Logic design laboratory. The programme was scheduled for 3 days between 8th of July 2015 to 10th July 2015 and faculties attended the course with full enthusiasm. The Staff Members Mrs.Sandhya A kulkarniand Mr. Santhosh Kumar J guided the staff with the knowledge and highlighted the importance of the subject.”
VTU- VGST Sponsored Faculty Development Programme (FDP)(19th May 2014)
The department of CSE had organized a faculty development Programme sponsored by VTU – VGST, on BIG DATA ANALYTICS & HADOOP from 19th to 22nd May 2014. The FDP provided the theory and
hands onexperience and also the importance of Big Data Analytics and Hadoop among the faculty fraternity.
The programme was started with Inauguration on 19th May 2014. Dr. Gopalakrishna, Managing Director, Integra Micro Software
servicesPvt. Ltd inaugurated the Programme and Sri K Subramanyam Naidu, President, KammavariSangam presided over the function.
The sessions were delivered by various resource persons, Dr. V Gopalkrishna, Integra Micro Software
servicesPvt. Ltd., Dr. Rajanikanth, former Principal, MSRIT. Mr. Manjunath T.N, Associate Professor & ERP-SPOC, Dept of Information Science &Engg., Acharya Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Dr. K G Srinivasa, Professor andHead, Dept. of CSE, MSRIT, Bengaluru, Dr. Channappa B Akki, Professor, Dept. of CSE, SJBIT, and also .Mr. VenkateshBabu V, Technical Lead, introduced the importance of Hadoop, its installation, and handling Hadoop tools in view of Big data.
The delegates were taken to Tata Consultancy
services(TCS as a part of Industrial Visit. Experts from Industry were interacted with participants and showed the importance of data analytics from industry perspectives. Faculty members of CSE, KSSEMwere accompanied during the industrial visit.
The valedictory programme was arranged on the last day of FDP. Dr. S Ananth Raj, Consultant, Dept. of IT, BT & S&T, VGST
,B’lorewas the chief guest. He addressed the gathering by highlighting the importance of VGST activities and Dr. S N Sridhara, Principal/Director, addressed the gathering by highlighting the importance of faculty development programmes. Sri K Subramanyam Naidu, President, KSGI andKSSEM over the function. Dr. Aswatha Kumar M, coordinator presented waspresided summaryreport of the programmes proposed the vote of thanks. Finallythe delegates are provided with the certificates.

WORKSHOP ON MULTICORE PROGRAMMING
“The aim of education is to give knowledge not for facts but for values”, with this aim, PG students were provided with a hands on workshop on “Multi core programming” on 11th December 2014, organized by the department of CSE. A detailed description about how a sequential program can be converted to multi core programming to run faster, and also to make efficient use of resources. The hands on was provided on Thread libraries such as lpthreads and Openmp. The resource person for the workshop was Dr. Sathyadhyan R Chickerur, professor, BVB College of engineering and technology, Hubli.
WORKSHOP ON LaTeX SOFTWARE
As a sign of true efforts to mold the PG students in adherence to the accepted standards, they were provided with a valuable exposure to the LaTeX software which was held on 21st October 2014. LaTeX is by and large accepted as an effective and efficient report making software by the research
The resource person for the event was Dr. M.C. Hanumantharaju, Associate prof.,BMSIT. He provided the students with all the nuts and bolts of LaTeX software .

Guest Lecture is a way of enriching our students with the latest updates. Department of CSE, KSSEM organised a guest lecture on Memory interface in Microprocessor for the benefit of 4th sem Students on 20th March 2015.
An Eminent personality Prof. Gururaja H.S from BMS college of Engineering, Bengaluru was invited to address the students. The session went on from 11 am to 1.30 pm. Students gained knowledge on Memory interfacing. The session ended with discussion on laboratory programs.
TECHNICAL TALK ON “RECENT ISSUES IN IMAGE PROCESSING AND ITS ALLIED AREAS
On 16th December 2014, Department of computer science and engineering, KSSEM has organized a technical talk on “Recent Issues in Image Processing and Allied Areas” for the benefits of teaching staff. Dr. JayanthaMukhopadyay, Professor, IIT Karaghpur, was invited as speaker of the day. The talk started with impact of image processing on the application that we use daily, and also briefed about the Research in the late 80’s. His Speech covered the recent issues and the trend in technology, Selection and defining the problem for the research. Speaker also answered for the queries been asked by the audience. The talk went on for one and a half hour.
The students of VII semester were provided with a seminar on Storage Area Networks delivered by Mr. Rajesh R Nambiar, Academic Alliance Program Manager, EMC2. The session was very productive to the students as SAN is one of their elective subjects.
Project Exhibition on 22nd April, 2016
To exhibit the Technical talent of the Students of KSSEM, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has organized a Project Exhibition on 22nd April, 2016. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Principal/Director Dr.S.N.Sridhara and Dr.Mohan.H.S, Professor and Head, Department of ISE, SJBIT. Around 26 groups from the department of CSE participated under Post graduation team and Undergraduate team and won best project award evaluated based on their theme and presentation skills. This platform gave students some more strength to their feathers.
Project Exhibition on May 15th 2015
It is really fantastic to see students exhibiting their talents in creating new project. On May 15th 2015, the Department of Computer science and engineering had arranged one day project exhibition to showcase the skill set of our outgoing students. Totally 14 group participated and one of the project “Secure Platform for E-Voting using Hybrid Approach” by Bhargavi Mohan, Divya C, Nanditha K and Terjaswini S under the guidance of Mamatha. R and Vishruth B.G was selected as the best project of the year-2015. Eminent professors DR. C.P Prashanth and Dr. T.G Basavaraju were invited to judge the event. The exhibition was witnessed by Press and Media and also edited about the same in “Prajavani” and “Deccan herald”.

On occasion of induction program for first year BE – 2014 on 3rd August 2014, the passed out students exhibited the projects to motivate the fresher’s.
