Work shop by NSS unit

Mr. J Prashanth Asst. Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering has attended One day state level train the trainer workshop on “Challenges and Opportunities in the Implementation of NSS in the Present Scenario”. This work shop was organised by NSS unit of BMS College of Engineering in association with Visveswaraya Technological University Belagavi, on 26th September 2018. The training also focused on imparting training to the participants on the software “Public Financial Management System” for taking care of the financial management activities of individual NSS units.

Faculty development programme on “BLOOMS Taxonomy”

Faculty development programme on “BLOOMS Taxonomy” was held on 4th and 5th December 2015 and continuation of the same was held from January 18th 2016 and the concluding session took place in the department where the faculty members presented the Blooms Taxonomy for their assigned subjects for the semester in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Workshop  on learning of Basics in CAED

Workshop on learning of Basics in CAED was organized on 5th August 2017 for both Non-teaching staff members of Mechanical & Civil Dept.  Mrs. Alam Radhika, Asst. Prof from the Department of Mechanical Engineering gave a brief introduction about solid edge ST2 software and a hand on training was given in drafting 2D sketches.

Workshop  on safety measures to be taken while operating a machine tool

Non-teaching staff members of Mechanical & Civil Department were trained on safety measures to be taken while operating a machine tool and hands-on training was given on lathe machine operations on  8th June 2018.

Mr Vinod A and Mr Karthik B M had attended the work shop on Computational Fluid Dynamics held @ KSIT from 8/2/2017 to 10/2/2017 along with 14 Students from 6th semester Mechanical Engineering.

Workshop – Domain Knowledge Augmentation

The Department conducted One day work shop on “Domain Knowledge Augmentation in Mechanical Engineering”, on 31st January 2014, in association with EDS Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Confederation of Indian Industry. About 51 participants from nearby colleges in Bangalore have attended this program. The aim of this program is to fill the gap between the Institution and Industry.The teaching fraternity interacted with the industry personal and expressed their willingness towards the need of such programs and attending such programs in future for keeping themselves updated to the real life happenings.

To enhance the technical skills among the students and make them fit for the requirements of rapidly growing industry, 10 days induction program on CATIA-V5 R21 was organized from 21-7-2014, by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with MECHTRIX, (a student forum of Mechanical Engineering Department). Mr. Ganesh A Bhargav, Assistant Professor has conducted this program.

Technical Talk on Advanced Softwares in Mechanical Engineering

Mr.Ananth Ram.B.R, Head, Softwares, Training & Placements from CADD Center, Jayanagar addressed the students of Mechanical Engineering regarding the latest developments in the softwares pertaining to the Mechanical Engineering. Dr.Shailesh Rao.A, Prof. & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the speaker and given the introductory speech on 24/4/18.

Seminar on Advanced Softwares by CADD Center

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a seminar on the importance of the software in the development of the industries and various certified software trainings like Catia, Ansys, Hyper mesh etc., are provided in getting better opportunities in Engineering Fields. The speakers for the CADD Center, Jayanagar, Bangalore addressed the student’s fraternity. TECHNICAL TALK  ON JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Dr Venkateshwarulu, Senior Scientist, NAL visited our College on 27th January 2018 and addressed the students of Mechanical Engineering regarding the future opportunities in Jobs for Mechanical Engineering. The students from all the semesters attended the seminar. Dr Shailesh Rao, Head of the Department and the Faculty Members welcomed the speaker for the function.

Seminar on SAE India

The students from 5th Semester Mechanical Engineering conducted a seminar on the formation of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Collegiate Club in our campus. The program was inaugurated by Dr S N Sridhara, Principal & Director, KSSEM.Mr Neeraj, Mr Chethan Kumar & Mr Rahul J  briefed about the events in SAE.The students from 1st,3rd & 5th semester from Mechanical Engineering along with teaching staff were present in the seminar.

Technical Presentation

Mr Xavier Fouger, Senior Director, Global Academic Programs, Dassault Systems delivered a Technical Presentation on the Modern Design Softwares. He enlightened the students and faculties of Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department on advance Softwares packages like CATIA V3, V4, V5 & V6 and many other softwares where the Global companies and using currently and also gave the live examples on the applications of the same Softwares. Dr Shailesh Rao, Head of the Department and Dr VijayaLakshmi Akella, Head of Civil Engineering Department chaired the event. Mr Ravi Kumar from EDS Technologies Pvt Ltd introduced Mr Xavier Fouger to the audience and it’s a privilege to have Mr Xavier Fouger in our Department & also Organization.

Seminar on Additive Manufacturing

A talk on “Additive Manufacturing” by Karumanchi Viswantha Sharma, was organised for students of BE Mechanical, 5th semester, under MECHTRIX FORUM, on 14th September 2015. Additive Manufacturing refers to a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component in layers by depositing material. The term “3D printing” is increasingly used as a synonym for Additive Manufacturing. Information on methods of additive manufacturing, its application and merits were key points discussed in the session.

National Conference- NCAME15

The second National Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering was arranged on 28th April 2015. The conference was well attended with 43 papers being presented on various topics like Thermal, Design, Materials and Production. Principal, Dr.S.N.Sridhara gave a brief overview of the institution and its growth in the past 4 years. The Chief Guest for the conference Dr. Ganesha Raj, Dy. Director, RESPOND from Indian Space Research organization spoke about the research opportunities in ISRO. Dr.P.Sriram, Chairman RAPSRI Engineering products gave an invited talk on Engineering Education: Its adequacy for employment.  D. Rukmangada, Treasurer, K S Group of Institutions assured the continued support for all round development of the institution.

Project Exhibition 2018 The final year students from our department participated in the Project Exhibition conducted in our campus on 4th May 2018.There were 15 batches exhibited their Project Models. Most of the Projects are very helpful to Society and are innovative.Dr.H.K.Srinivas, Professor from SJBIT, Bangalore reviewed the models and declared best project award to Mr. Karthik & Team guided by Dr S.N. Sridhara, Principal & director and Mr.Hareesh.A, Associate Professor.

Project Exhibition 2017 Mechanical Engineering students of 6th Semester had visited the Industrial Training Centre @ Bangalore International Exhibition Centre( BIEC) , Bangalore accompanied by our Principal Dr S N Sridhara, Head of the Department Dr Shailesh Rao A and Mr Santosh Kumar K  , Assistant Professor. Project Exhibition 2016 Best Projects The student fraternity Mr. Sharan P & Ms. Sushmitha M under the guidance of Dr P N Jyothi presented the project titled “Experimental studies on cutting parameters during drilling operation of mild steel using Eco-friendly vegetable oil as cutting fluid” got recognition as THE BEST PROJECT OF THE YEAR from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology held at BLDEA’S College of Engineering, Vijayapura on August 19-20, 2016. The student fraternity Mr. Chethan J, Mr.Mahantesh, Mr. Darshan & Ms. Lakshmi Kesari   M under the guidance of Mr.Akashdeep B N presented the project titled “Automated Gear Transmission in Geared Vehicle got recognition as THE BEST PROJECT OF THE YEAR from Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology held at BLDEA’S College of Engineering, Vijayapura on August 19-20, 2016. Exhibition Students of BE 8th semester got an opportunity to exhibit their final year projects at the K. S. School of Engineering and Management premises on 22nd April 2016. Almost all the 18 projects displayed were application based projects in the field of automobile, agriculture, production, materials, thermal, design and robotics. The project scrutiny on was done based on creativity, knowledge and the output by Mr. Srinivas Murthy, Assistant Professor, KSIT, Bangalore. The project “Effect of burner design on the performance of domestic LPG stove” received the best project award.

                    Realising the REAL- Demonstrative Power Plants Exhibition: DA Theory and practical are two banks of the same river which have to be abridged for a better connectivity. An effort was made by the 5th semester students of Mechanical Engineering Department on 14th September 2015, to bring their theoretical knowledge of Non-conventional Energy Sources by building Demo-models of various Power Plants.
