The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, which fall under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. NSS was started in the year 1969 at the national level, since then the number of students strength has been increasing from 40,000 to over 3.8 million and is still continuing to increase.
K.S. School of Engineering and Management was permitted to involve in the social service activities through its N.S.S wing. The official permission letter to start a NSS wing was received on 20th of October 2017 and it was officially launched on 2nd November 2017. The current student strength of our NSS wing is 100 volunteers.
The Motto of NSS "Not Me But You", reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students development & appreciation to other person's point of view and also show consideration towards other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is a good doctrine in this motto, which underlines on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society as a whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.
"The NSS Unit has conducted International Yoga day association with IEEE student branch KSSEM. The Yoga Day was celebrated by the Staff (teaching and non-teaching) of K.S. School of Engineering and Management on 21st June 2022 with great enthusiasm. Principal Dr. K. Rama Narasimha, Heads, teaching and non-teaching staff were participated in the Yoga day celebration. The function began with a brief introduction of Yoga Day and the guest Ms.Chandana was introduced by Prof. Shreedhar N. Yoga Day is celebrated among the staff to make them understand the importance of Yoga in their life. It helps all to understand how to maintain harmony between body and mind. Ms. Chandana explained the importance of Yoga in the life. She explained that regular practice of Yoga will help all to achieve better mental and physical health. Then she started Yoga demonstrations. After which a few warm up and simple Asanas were performed by the staff enthusiastically and the importance of these Asanas was explained simultaneously by Ms. Chandana. "

A total of 20 games were played and participated by 3900 students from 210 Universities in the second edition of the Khelo India University Games. Jain University has organized Khelo India Valedictory Event on 3rd May 2022 at Kanteerava Stadium. NSS and Sports students were participated. "

View more"KSSEM NSS Cell was celebrated India?s 73rd Republic Day with great éclat on 26-01-2022. It was held in the Basket Ball Court. Management team, Principal, HoDs, one instructor and attender in each branch, NSS Program Officer, Physical Education Director and Selected NSS Students were participated. The programme began at 8.45am. The chief guest for the day was Sri Rajgopal Naidu, President of KSGI. And also Sri R Leelashankar Rao, Secretary, KSGI, Prof. Sangappa, PRO, KSGI and directors of KSGI are participated. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Ramanarasimha, Principal, KSSEM. Then the guest members were presided to the flag hoisting ceremony. Our chief guest hoisted the National flag, all saluted the National flag and pledged to up hold the honour and integrity. The chief guest addressed all and urged them to do their best and feel proud to be Indian. Then Patriotic song was sung by Ms.Sneha, alumni of KSSEM and Mrs. Renuka V Tali, Assistant Professor, KSSEM The NSS Volunteers have supported and coordinated well to make the republic day a success. "

View more"A blood donation camp was organized by NSS Unit of KSSEM on 10-12-2021. It was held in the Kavirathna Kalidasa Auditorium. All the preparations such as arrangement of beds, sanitization etc. was made. We have conducted blood donation camp with association of Lions Club and NIMHANS Hospital. A team of doctors and nurses had reached in time. The management Team of Kammavari Sangham such as R. Leelashankar Rao, Secretary, Neerajakshulu Naidu, Treasurer, A.V. Nagaraj, Director, Dr. K Ramanarasimha, Principal and Raju Chandrashekar, Lions Blood Bank Official inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. The students of our college besides the people of the college were participating in the camp. The Blood donation Camp started at 10.30am and continued till 3:00 pm. Students were actively participated and donated the blood, then refreshment also provided after donating the blood. "
